There Will Never Be Full Employment Again
Evolution has always found a way improve everything in this planet. The world has evolved to become so much better but along with all the advancements, especially in terms of technology, there come a myriad of disadvantages that human beings continue to suffer.
Technology has found ways to make people redundant, thanks to computers and robotics. Programs and machines have already been developed to perform human functions, so the problems with unemployment is expected to see no end as the planet continue to advance.
Let us take a look at the reality of things:
- Competition for work has indeed become tougher. Before, you need only obtain a degree to qualify yourself for employment. Nowadays, all that is worth nothing because as there is such employment scarcity, criteria has risen. You need further qualifications to succeed in the cutthroat competition to gain placement that you deserve.
- Work has become easier. Machines need not be the enemy, really. It is all a matter of properly applying things because computers and robots have provided the common workers much efficiency, preciseness and productivity that is way beyond what is usual. They need not be a threat to the workforce. As long as their usefulness is properly applied, they do not have to steal jobs from people.
- It encourages greediness. Technology has definitely found amazing ways to cut corners and take shortcuts. Due to this convenience, the hunger and greed of people are fuelled beyond to the detriment of many. Those who want to make money will invest in technology to be able to eliminate human work force. They will take away human factor so that they can speed up the influx of money into their accounts.
It encourages people to aspire better for themselves. Should you really be content with a job that a computer program or robot is capable of performing? If your old job has become obsolete because of technology, it is about time you find a way to further yourself by obtaining skills that will put you above computers and robots. If you need to go back to school or attend short courses, do so—survival of the fittest, that is how it is when the world is evolving.
